There is a special library located in Ankara, Turkey, and it contains more than six thousand books. The library has been created by garbage collectors who, for months, have picked all the books found in the trash or abandoned on the street by tourists. The initiative has been so welcomed that the residents of the district of Çankaya have begun to give their unused books to the library, rather than throw them away.

La biblioteca è stata creata da netturbini che hanno raccolto per mesi tutti i libri abbandonati per strada dai turisti o trovati nella spazzatura. L’iniziativa è stata talmente benvenuta che i residenti del distretto del Çankaya hanno iniziato a dare i loro libri alla biblioteca. La biblioteca è stata inizialmente aperta all’interno di una fabbrica di mattoni ed unicamente dedicata ai dipendenti e alle proprie famiglie. Ma, a settembre 2017, quando la notizia si è diffusa nella comunità, la biblioteca è stata aperta al pubblico. The library recently opened inside of a brick factory. Initially, it was created to make the books available to employees and their families, but in September 2017, when the news spread amongst the community, the library was opened to the public. The Mayor of Çankaya, who oversaw the opening of the library said: “We started discussing the idea of ​​creating a library from these books. And when everyone supported it, the project started. “
This shows how powerful a single idea can be and also teaches us that our individual contribution, day by day, can make the difference in the world.
